The announcement was made on Saturday in Asaba during the grand finale of the 2025 edition of the PEARLs Quiz competition, a flagship educational initiative by the Seplat JV that seeks to inspire academic excellence and nurture critical thinking among young people in its host communities.

Promoting Exceptional Leaders Through Education
The PEARLs Quiz, which stands for Promoting Exceptional and Respectable Leaders, has been a cornerstone of Seplat’s social investment since its inception in 2012. Over the years, it has provided a platform for students to showcase intellect, discipline, and innovation, qualities the company believes are essential to shaping the next generation of African leaders.
Speaking at the event, Seplat Energy’s Director of External Affairs and Social Performance, Chioma Afe, represented by the General Manager for Government Relations, Hadiza Garbati, applauded the governments of Edo and Delta States for their continued support.
She praised the students for their outstanding participation, saying that every contestant had gained valuable knowledge and life lessons that transcend the competition.
“A school might be going home today with the prize, but all of you are already winners,” she said. “The learning you have gained from the PEARLs Quiz will make each of you a better person in your journey through life.”
Garbati also highlighted the company’s investment in teacher training, noting that Seplat’s wider education initiatives continue to strengthen the quality of learning in its host communities.
