The Emadeb Energy Group has formally presented the first oil from the Ibom Field to the Akwa Ibom governor, Umo Eno, during a visit to the Government House in Uyo, in a move that opens the door to a broader conversation about investment and long-term collaboration in the state’s oil and gas sector.

The delegation, led by the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Emadeb Group, Adebowale Olujimi, arrived in the capital with a clear objective: to table the company’s milestone and outline areas where both sides could deepen cooperation.

Olujimi expressed gratitude to the state for providing an environment that, in his words, made it possible for the Ibom Field to advance rapidly from development to first oil. He described the field’s progress as evidence of the wider potential that still lies largely untapped in the state and in Nigeria’s southern region.

At the heart of the meeting was the Ibom Field itself, which produces sweet light crude with a 33.8 API assay. Considered one of the region’s most promising marginal fields, it is expected to generate new revenue streams for the state government, create technical and non-technical jobs, and support wider economic activity.

Olujimi reaffirmed the company’s intention to maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with the state and acknowledged the governor’s reception of the team.

The visiting team included Executive Director Olugbesoye Olujimi; Segun Ogunsanya, the Chief Operating Officer of Emadeb Exploration and Production; Olawale Ayeni, the Technical General Manager in the same division; Sheriff Adeeyo, the Chief Operating Officer of Emadeb Energy; Uduak Ugbodagah, Head of Human Resources; and Jeremiah Achonwa, Head of Legal.

Beyond marking the first oil milestone, the discussions moved into broader commercial interests. These included Emadeb’s possible participation in the Akwa Ibom Gas Monetisation Hub, the ongoing development of the Ibom Deep Sea Port, and opportunities in infrastructure expansion and job creation across the state. Governor Eno welcomed the proposals, noting that his administration was prepared to sit down with Emadeb on every idea placed on the table.

He commended the company’s focus on sustainable development and its stated commitment to community welfare, describing both as important pillars for the state’s future.

The governor also signalled an interest in partnering or co-investing with the operator in the Ibom Field’s future phases, underscoring the state’s appetite for deeper involvement in energy-linked ventures. The visit concluded with the ceremonial presentation of the first oil sample and a commemorative plaque to the governor, followed by a group photograph.
