KEY POINTS

  • Dangote Refinery says it can supply 75 million litres of PMS, 25 million litres of diesel, and 20 million litres of aviation fuel daily.
  • The declared capacity exceeds Nigeria’s estimated daily fuel consumption, providing a buffer against shortages.
  • The refinery says its operations will help stabilise the market, cut fuel imports, and support energy security.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reaffirmed its ability to meet and surpass Nigeria’s daily fuel consumption, announcing it can supply up to 75 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), 25 million litres of diesel, and 20 million litres of aviation fuel every day.

The company said these volumes are significantly higher than Nigeria’s estimated daily demand of about 50 million litres of PMS, 14 million litres of diesel, and four million litres of jet fuel.

In a public notice issued on Friday, the refinery stated that its excess production capacity would help stabilise the domestic fuel market, reduce supply disruptions, and lower Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products.

According to the company, the additional buffer is particularly important during periods of peak demand or when logistics challenges threaten supply chains.

Commitment to quality and regulatory compliance

Dangote Refinery said it remains committed to supplying petroleum products that meet the highest international quality standards to marketers and other stakeholders.

The company added that it continues to work closely with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to ensure orderly market operations and full regulatory compliance.

It noted that its supply strategy supports Nigeria’s broader goal of achieving energy security and strengthening domestic refining capacity.
