EKEDC Announces Three-Day Daytime Power Outage in Lekki for Network Upgrade

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company, EKEDC, has announced a planned three-day power outage that will affect residents and businesses in the Lekki District of Lagos.

The electricity distribution company said the temporary interruption is part of efforts to upgrade its power infrastructure and improve electricity supply in the area.

In a statement issued to customers, EKEDC explained that the outage will affect Lekki and nearby communities within the district as technical work is carried out at one of its critical power facilities.

Dates and Duration of the Planned Outage

According to the company, the power interruption will occur from Thursday, March 13 to Saturday, March 15, 2026.

During the three-day period, electricity supply will be unavailable daily between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. while engineers carry out the upgrade works at the Lekki Injection Substation. EKEDC said the temporary shutdown of power is necessary to ensure that the work is carried out safely and effectively.

EKEDC explained that the network upgrade is designed to strengthen the power distribution system and enhance electricity delivery to customers in the Lekki District.

The company noted that the upgrade will improve operational flexibility and increase the capacity of the network to evacuate power more efficiently. It added that the project is expected to ultimately lead to more reliable electricity supply for households and businesses in the affected communities.

The electricity distribution company apologised to residents and businesses who may be inconvenienced by the temporary outage. EKEDC appealed for understanding and patience from customers while the upgrade work is completed, assuring them that the improvements will result in better service delivery in the long run.
