KEY POINTS

  • NNPC delivered over 1.03 million metric tonnes (about 1.08 billion litres) of crude to Dangote refinery in April 2026.
  • Five out of eight cargoes have been discharged, while three are still in progress, ensuring steady supply.
  • Despite increased deliveries, the refinery still requires more crude to meet its monthly demand of 19 cargoes.

Crude oil supply from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Limited increased significantly in April 2026, with over 1.03 million metric tonnes delivered to the Dangote Oil and Gas Company within the month. This volume translates to about 6.8 million barrels, or more than 1.08 billion litres of crude oil.

Data from tanker movements show that the deliveries were carried out through eight cargo shipments handled by NNPC Trading, strengthening its role as a key supplier to the 650,000 barrels-per-day Dangote refinery in Lekki, Lagos.

Multiple Crude Streams and Ongoing Shipments

The crude supplies came from major Nigerian oil streams such as Anyala, Bonga, Odudu, Forcados, Qua Iboe, and Utapate, delivered through the refinery’s offshore Single Point Mooring (SPM) systems.

Out of the eight shipments, five have already been discharged, while three are still in progress, either waiting to berth or complete unloading, indicating a steady flow of crude into the facility.

Despite the increase, the Dangote refinery continues to face supply challenges, as it requires about 19 cargoes monthly to operate at full capacity. This comes amid reports that Nigeria imported over 55 million barrels of crude in the first two months of 2026.

Several vessels contributed to the April deliveries, including shipments from Anyala, Bonga, Odudu, and Forcados crude grades. Some cargoes have been fully discharged, while others remain pending, maintaining a continuous supply pipeline.

In total, NNPC Trading supplied over 1.03 million metric tonnes, which analysts describe as a strong and consistent supply effort.
