Shell Pushes Gas Adoption as Demand for Cleaner, Cheaper Energy Rises

Shell Nigeria Gas, SNG, convened industry stakeholders in Port Harcourt to explore how natural gas can reduce operational costs, boost productivity, and attract investments across Nigeria’s industrial sector.

The company announced the onboarding of Intercontinental Distillers Limited II and Rumbu Industries Limited in Ogun State into its growing gas distribution network, bringing the total number of connected firms to over 150.

Participants at the forum described natural gas as a key driver for industrial revival, improved productivity, and sustainable economic growth in the Niger Delta and beyond.

Latest Additions Increase the Number of Companies Using Its Gas Solutions

According to Shell, the latest additions have increased the number of companies using its gas solutions to more than 150, with many businesses already benefiting from reduced energy costs and improved operational performance.

The forum attracted manufacturers, investors, gas users, policymakers, development agencies, and regulators. Representatives from organisations such as the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Bank of Industry, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, and the Niger Delta Chambers of Commerce were in attendance.

Speaking during the event on behalf of SNG Managing Director Ralph Gbobo, the company’s Head of Gas Distribution, Chukwuka Amos-Ejesi, said natural gas offers manufacturers stable and predictable energy costs while reducing dependence on volatile liquid fuels.

He noted that businesses switching to gas benefit from improved operational uptime, better planning certainty, and stronger market competitiveness.
