Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, a former member of parliament for the Tempane Constituency in the Upper East Region, has been named the Deputy Managing Director of the Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation (BEST) Company Limited, formerly known as BOST, in a calculated move by the Ghanaian government. Kpemka’s addition to the BEST team to aid in guiding the business forward is a significant step in fortifying the company’s leadership.
The official declaration was made in a letter that was signed by Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo’s secretary, Nana Bediatuo Asante. The letter, which is written to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Minister of Energy, directs that Kpemka’s appointment be formally formalized in compliance with all applicable laws.
“The President of the Republic has nominated Mr. Joseph Dindiok Kpemka for appointment as Deputy Managing Director of Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation Limited Company,” the letter detailed. “Kindly take the necessary steps to regularize the said appointment by the relevant provisions of the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 929) and the constitution of the company.”
Joseph Dindiok Kpemka brings a robust portfolio of experience and academic credentials to the table. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Ghana, complemented by an L.L.B and a Barrister of Law degree from the Ghana School of Law. Prior to his new role at BEST, Kpemka served as a Deputy Minister for the Attorney General and Minister for Justice during the first term of President Akufo-Addo’s administration, showcasing his capabilities in high-level governmental roles.
BEST Company Limited, established in 1993 as a private liability company, functions under the ownership of the Government of Ghana. The company’s primary mandate involves the development and maintenance of a comprehensive network of storage tanks, pipelines, and bulk transportation infrastructure across the nation. Additionally, it is charged with maintaining Strategic Reserve Stocks for Ghana, ensuring the country’s energy security.
Kpemka’s selection is viewed as a calculated effort to use his political and legal background to achieve BEST’s goals, especially at this crucial moment when energy transit and storage are essential to Ghana’s economic expansion and stability. The government’s choice to choose a person with substantial legal and administrative experience demonstrates its dedication to enhancing the administration and operational effectiveness of important state-owned businesses.
