Nigerian billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has praised industrialist Aliko Dangote following a visit to the Dangote Refinery, describing the facility as the “eighth wonder of the world.”
In a message shared on his official social media page on February 15, 2026, Otedola expressed admiration for the scale and engineering achievement of the refinery, highlighting its importance to Nigeria’s industrial growth and energy independence.
During his remarks, Otedola revealed that once the refinery’s expansion project is completed, its production capacity is expected to rise to about 1.4 million barrels per day.
Billionaire Africa reports that the planned increase would represent a major leap from its current installed capacity and could further position the facility among the largest refining complexes globally.
Milestone follows recent production breakthrough
The visit comes shortly after reports that the refinery successfully reached its full nameplate processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day. This milestone was achieved after technical optimisation of key units, including the crude distillation system and petrol production section, which stabilised operations and enabled consistent output.
Industry observers view the refinery as one of Africa’s most ambitious private-sector infrastructure projects, expected to reshape Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector by reducing dependence on imported fuel and strengthening local supply chains. Otedola’s public endorsement reflects growing confidence among investors and business leaders in the refinery’s long-term economic impact.
