Energia Limited has added a trailblazer to its board.

The independent Nigerian oil and gas company announced the appointment of Tai Adetokunbo Oshisanya as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective May 2026. The move is framed as part of the company’s wider push to strengthen its governance structure and bring in experienced voices as it pursues long-term growth.

Oshisanya is not a new name in the industry. She is widely recognized as the first Nigerian female Chief Financial Officer of an international oil and gas company operating in Nigeria, having served as Executive Director for Finance and Control and CFO of TotalEnergies EP Nigeria. That distinction, achieved in a sector that has historically been slow to elevate women into its most senior financial roles, has made her a reference point for corporate diversity in Nigerian energy.

A career built across four continents

Before her retirement from TotalEnergies, Oshisanya held senior leadership positions in Nigeria, France, South Africa and the Netherlands. Her work spanned complex financial operations, joint venture oversight, performance management frameworks and enterprise transformation. She brings more than four decades of experience across energy, financial services, pension administration and development sectors in Africa and Europe.

She currently serves on the boards of several financial services institutions, and has been actively involved in advancing corporate governance, leadership development and women’s economic empowerment beyond the energy sector.

What the appointment signals for Energia

Energia Chairman George Osahon welcomed the appointment, saying her governance expertise and energy sector experience would bring invaluable insight to the board. He described her strategic perspective as directly aligned with the company’s long-term growth ambitions.

Oshisanya said she was honored to join the board at what she described as an important moment for the company and the wider industry. Energia appointed Oladimeji Bashorun as its new CEO in April 2026 following the exit of Chidi Egonu, making this second board-level announcement in under two months a signal that the company is actively reshaping its leadership at a pivotal time.
