Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo) has been honoured for its groundbreaking contributions to oilfield development at the 9th Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) in Abuja.

The award for “Best Oilfield Development Projects” highlights SNEPCo’s leadership in Nigeria’s offshore energy sector, particularly in developing complex deep-water operations.

SNEPCo began production at the Bonga field in 2005, marking Nigeria’s first oil development in water depths exceeding 1,000 meters.

Subsequent projects, including the Bonga Northwest field which commenced operations in 2015, have cemented the company’s reputation for technical excellence and innovation. Work on the Bonga North project continues, with a Final Investment Decision (FID) taken in December 2024, further expanding Nigeria’s deep-water production capacity.

Leadership Commended for Safety, Innovation, and Value Creation

SNEPCo Managing Director Ronald Adams said the recognition underscores the company’s commitment to safe operations, technological advancement, and delivering sustainable value.

“With the support of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, co-venture partners, and our dedicated staff, we will continue to operate safely and provide consistent value as we power progress in Nigeria,” Adams stated.

The NIES brought together over 5,000 participants from more than 30 countries, including ministers, CEOs, and industry experts. The four-day event, themed “Energy for Peace and Prosperity: Securing Our Shared Future,” provided a forum for sharing insights, discussing energy security, and recognising exemplary contributions to the sector. Shell’s award reflects its role as a benchmark for operational excellence in Nigeria’s energy industry.
