BHEL Signs Power Equipment Deal With Dangote Refinery in Nigeria

India’s state-owned engineering giant, Bharat Heavy Electricals ,BHEL, has signed a contract with Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals Free Zone Enterprise to supply gas turbine generator packages for a major energy project in Nigeria.

The agreement, awarded through an international tender, will support operations at the Dangote Industries Free Zone, where large-scale refinery and petrochemical activities are ongoing.

Valued at between ₹2,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore, the deal marks a significant industrial collaboration between the two companies in the energy sector

Under the contract, BHEL will handle the design, manufacture, supply up to Mumbai Port, supervision of installation, commissioning support, and performance testing of eight gas turbine generator packages.

The equipment will be deployed in a petroleum refinery and polypropylene plant within the Nigerian free zone.

However, civil construction works are excluded from BHEL’s responsibilities under the agreement

Timeline and Execution Plan

The project is expected to be completed within 26 months from the effective start date of the contract.

BHEL confirmed that the deal is not a related-party transaction and that neither its promoters nor group companies have any stake in the awarding entity.

The company noted that the contract aligns with its broader international expansion strategy in the power and industrial equipment sector.
