Ikeja Electric has announced a fresh round of price adjustments for prepaid meters, introducing higher tariffs that take effect from 6 August 2025. The update covers both single-phase and three-phase meters and includes value-added tax, marking the latest shift in the companyโ€™s Meters Asset Provider scheme.

The distribution company disclosed the new figures on its official X account on Friday, saying the revised prices reflect approvals granted to its certified meter suppliers. It also noted that the tariffs remain dependent on meter availability, a recurring issue in the sector as demand continues to outstrip supply.

In its breakdown, Ikeja Electric listed several providers with updated charges. MBH Powerโ€™s single-phase meter is now priced at โ‚ฆ135,987.50, while its three-phase option comes in at โ‚ฆ226,825.00. Turbo Energyโ€™s meters stand slightly higher, with โ‚ฆ145,608.75 for single-phase and โ‚ฆ236,903.13 for three-phase units.

Aries Electric is offering its single-phase device at โ‚ฆ145,125.00, with the three-phase variant rising to โ‚ฆ258,000.00. Mojecโ€™s single-phase meter is listed at โ‚ฆ135,718.75 and its three-phase counterpart matches MBHโ€™s โ‚ฆ226,825.00 price point.

Paktim Metering Nigeria has set its single-phase meter at โ‚ฆ137,600.00 and the three-phase at โ‚ฆ233,275.00. Holley Metering posted one of the lower prices at โ‚ฆ133,854.03 for single-phase units, and โ‚ฆ219,497.09 for the three-phase version. CIG Meteringโ€™s single-phase meter climbed to โ‚ฆ150,500.00, while New Hampshire Capital placed its single-phase meter at โ‚ฆ133,300.00 and its three-phase at โ‚ฆ231,125.00.

Distributor says tariffs reflect approved MAP pricing

Ikeja Electric said the adjustments are aimed at making cost information more transparent for customers and ensuring that prices remain aligned with the most recent approvals granted under the national Meter Asset Provider framework.

The scheme, introduced to bridge Nigeriaโ€™s persistent metering gap, allows accredited firms to manufacture and install meters at approved rates.

The company added that it is committed to ensuring customers have clear and accessible information as the utilities sector continues to face challenges linked to inflation, currency depreciation and rising import costs for electrical components.

The new tariff structure is expected to feed into broader reforms shaping Nigeriaโ€™s distribution landscape in the coming months.
