The signings took place during the Invest in Rwanda session on May 14. Private sector partners came from Egypt, Benin, the United States and Mauritius.

Manufacturing, energy and logistics deals through RDB

RDB CEO Jean-Guy Afrika signed an MoU with Elsewedy Group CEO Ahmed Elsewedy. The deal supports a manufacturing plant for smart meters, electric vehicle chargers and power transformers. It also covers a planned technical university, a logistics hub, and management of Phases I and II of the Kigali Special Economic Zone.

Afrika also signed with Sunrise Resorts and Cruises CEO Hossam El Shaer. That partnership covers a hospitality resort, a solar photovoltaic power plant with battery storage and a water treatment plant.

Rwanda signed a separate deal with Benin’s investment promotion agency, APIEX. The agreement targets bilateral investment promotion and export development. Afrika signed alongside APIEX Director General Eric Akouté.

RDB and Busara Advisors also signed a non-binding collaboration framework covering investment facilitation and advisory services. Busara Advisors President Reuben E. Brigety II signed alongside Afrika.

RSSB closes hospitality and investment deals

The Rwanda Social Security Board signed two agreements with Cleo Capital Group Ltd. A Share Purchase Agreement and a Shareholders Agreement govern the sale of shares and future governance of Akagera Game Lodge.

Akagera Game Lodge also signed a Hotel Management Agreement with The Lux Collective. Arnaud Lagesse, Chairman of The Lux Collective, and Emmanuel Rugambwa, Chairman of Akagera Game Lodge’s board, signed the documents.

The deals reinforce Rwanda’s drive to become a regional hub for manufacturing, clean energy and high-end tourism.
