Nigeria’s student polytechnic body does not hand out awards lightly. This week, it chose Kore Solar.
The National Association of Polytechnic Students presented Lagos-based Kore Solar with the award for outstanding solar energy solutions firm in Nigeria on Thursday, June 4. The presentation took place at the company’s Lagos headquarters, where a NAPS delegation led by Comrade Rasheed Ibrahim Ajibade and Comrade Agbaje Wasiu made the formal handover.
Ajibade said the recognition was the result of an independent assessment the body’s award committee conducted across solar companies operating in Nigeria. What set Kore Solar apart, he said, was consistency in delivering clean, reliable and affordable energy to homes, businesses and communities. “We are proud of Kore Solar’s commitment to energy,” he said.
A company built for the transition
Kore Solar Managing Director Kayode Raji did not attend the ceremony but was represented by Operations Manager Omolola Alao, who accepted the award on the company’s behalf. Alao said the recognition validated the direction the company has been building toward.
She described Kore Solar not just as a product installer but as a value-added service provider inside a sector that Nigeria urgently needs to develop. The company’s stated vision, she said, is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable energy future by giving businesses access to clean, reliable and affordable power. That mission, she noted, is not aspirational. It is already underway.
Why recognition in this sector matters now
Nigeria’s solar industry has grown rapidly as years of grid instability have pushed homes and businesses to seek alternatives. The sector now counts dozens of active companies competing on price, quality and service. Recognition from a national student body carries particular significance: it reflects grassroots awareness of which companies are actually delivering, not just marketing.
Alao said Kore Solar intends to build on the momentum the award represents. The company serves residential and commercial customers and positions itself as a long-term partner in Nigeria’s energy transition rather than a one-off installer.
The NAPS delegation said it plans to continue tracking the performance of companies across Nigeria’s clean energy sector and will issue future recognitions based on ongoing independent assessments.
