AEDC Announces Power Outage in Abuja, Nasarawa Over TCN Fault

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, has announced a temporary power outage affecting parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State following a technical fault on a transmission facility operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN. The disruption led to a loss of bulk electricity supply to several areas connected to the affected line.

According to AEDC, the outage was caused by a fault on the 132kV Apo–Karu Line 1, which supplies electricity to multiple communities across Abuja and neighbouring Nasarawa State. Areas impacted include Karu, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba, Ado, New Nyanya, New Karu, Uke, Masaka, Auta Balaifi, Keffi, Nasarawa Toto, Akwanga, and Nasarawa Eggon, among other surrounding settlements.

The company explained that engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria have already been deployed to address the fault and restore normal supply. The technical teams are currently working on the damaged transmission line in a bid to resolve the disruption as quickly as possible.

AEDC stated that power is expected to be restored around 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, following ongoing repair efforts. The distribution company apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience and appealed for patience while restoration work continues.
